The Saint James Paris Hotel Opens The Terrace Bar and Restaurant

It might be a 41-minute Metro ride from the gayborhood, Le Marais, but queer foodies might want to consider adding The Terrace restaurant to their itinerary. But you may want to wait until things get a little cooler because the new outdoor bar and dining concept is set in The Saint James Paris hotel’s private, walled gardens.

The Saint James Paris is the only chateau-hotel surrounded by its gardens in Paris and The Terrace highlights that peaceful, park-like setting with an outdoor bar and restaurant set on a leafy terrace in and around a Versailles-green gazebo and trellises – a unique setting for a meal in Paris’ central 16th arrondissement.

The hotel is only a 20-minute walk from the Arc de Triomphe. It’s a respite for fashionable queers looking for dinner after a little high-end shopping along the touristy and world-famous Champs Élysées. Reservations are required.

At the helm of the new restaurant, Michelin-starred chef Julien Dumas has created a seasonal menu of vegetables from the hotel’s organic garden and grilled meats fired up in front of guests on a plancha outdoor grill. Check out the Summer menu here.

Earlier this year, Dumas was awarded a Michelin star for Bellefeuille, his fine-dining restaurant also located in the hotel. Bellefeuille is part of the rebirth of the hotel and private club, which completed a total renovation this spring that consisted of new interiors, gardens, spa, and restaurant concepts. The Terrace was the last piece of the renovation, opening at the beginning of the summer.

The Terrace is open to hotel guests and club members for lunch and drinks before 7 pm. For the public, the bar is open from 7-11:30 pm and dinner service is available by reservation from 7:30-10 pm. Non-hotel guests can book a reservation here.
