Spend Valentine’s Weekend at The Crown & Anchor
Provincetown has been in the process of reinventing itself as a year-round destination. With an impressive roundup of fall and holiday events this past season they are well on their way to doing so, and it seems they’re just getting started. It seems our favorite queer New England paradise by the sea has some plans for Valentine’s Day too.
No matter how or with whom you choose to celebrate, The Crown & Anchor is the perfect place to spend your Valentine’s Day Weekend. With events designed to titillate, satisfy your appetite, and tickle your funny bone, Valentine’s weekend at the Crown & Anchor promises to be anything but typical.
Kick off the weekend on Friday, February 10, with the Provincetown Follies: Saint Valentine’s Edition in the Paramount Club. A bevy of Ptown performers will ignite all your senses with singing, dancing, drag, burlesque, comedy, and more. Proceeds from this show’s ticket sales benefit the Provincetown Performing Arts Fund. After the show, head to the Vault for the My Slutty Valentine Underwear Party or spend the rest of your night indulging in desserts and listening to the sounds of João Santos in the Dive Bar.
On Saturday, February 11, the Crown & Anchor presents Dall’Italia Con Amore (From Italy with Love), a 5-course prix fixe dinner with wine pairings. Dishes will be prepared using Crown & Anchor’s co-owner, Paolo Martini’s treasured Italian family recipes, with Jonathan Hawkins adding to this Valentine’s feast with live entertainment from Jon Richardson, Mackenzie, Hilarie Tamar, João Santos, Spookey, Austin Tyler, and Heather & Stuart Price.
“We had such an amazing time creating the Persephone experience during the Provincetown Food & Wine Festival that I wanted our dining and entertainment teams to collaborate again for Valentine’s Day,” said Jonathan Hawkins, co-owner and general manager of the Crown & Anchor. “Plus, I could not resist the opportunity to showcase my amazing husband’s culinary heritage.”
Explore the love language of laughter at My _______ Valentine, Comedy at the Crown featuring Austin Tyler, Kristen Becker, and Anne Hutchinson in the Wave bar. These funny valentines will then be your chaperones at the Tunnel of Love, a Valentine’s Queer Formal dance. Complete with (spiked) punch, (awkward) dancing to slow jams, live performances, a sexy cupid, DJ KT, and a photo booth to capture or recapture your “middle school dance” memories. Queer formal or VERY informal dress is encouraged. Take a ride through the Tunnel of Love….you never know who you’ll come out with.
