Yvie Oddly Dishes About ‘RuPaul’s Drag Race Night of the Living Dead’ Halloween Tour
Halloween is here, are you ready? Yvie Oddly, winner of “RuPaul’s Drag Race Season 11” is cooking up something too good to be true this month with the upcoming Voss Events’ 12th Annual RuPaul’s Drag Race Night of the Living Drag North American Halloween Tour. This year’s Halloween tour pays homage to the frightening, spooky, supernatural, and psychological stories of Rod Serling’s The Twilight Zone. We connected with Yvie before the tour departed and Yvie told us, “As the ultimate queen of curiosities, I am excited to host a fierce and frightful exploration into some of the most famous horror stories.” As the show’s narrator, Oddly will usher fans into the Fifth Dimension, sharing ominous tales.
In a fusion of personalities, fierce artistry, and unapologetic self-expression, RuPaul’s Drag Race has risen as a “sickening” cultural phenomenon over the years. Since its inception in February 2009, the show has not only redefined the parameters of reality competition but has also become a potent platform for celebrating diversity, sparking conversations, and inspiring millions worldwide. Yvie, who hails from Denver, Colorado, returned to the famous franchise in the first episode of RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars 5 as a “Lip-Synch Assassin” with a winning performance to Ricky Martin’s Livin’ la Vida Loca against India Ferrah. Yvie also came back for RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars placing fifth-eighth. They are known, not only for their “charisma, uniqueness, nerve, and talent.”
Fans may remember the former tour spearheaded by Absolut Vodka: Logo’s Drag Race Tour. In recent years, Voss Events has lifted the tour to new heights with the creation of RuPaul’s Drag Race Werq the World tour. This initial tour, conceived by Brandon Voss with input from Shangela, made its debut on May 26, 2019, in Toronto. The current tour of RuPaul’s Drag Race Werq the World is already on the road, but the Halloween tour is destined to take audiences on a much spookier journey.
This year’s tour will feature live performances by RuPaul’s Drag Race Season 12 winner Jaida Essence Hall, Canada Drag Race Season 2 winner Icesis Couture, RuPaul’s Drag Race UK standout Tayce (the “lip-sync assassin”), and series favorites Plastique Tiara, Angeria Paris VanMicheals, Denali Foxx, Rosé and Jorgeous.
“We are pulling out all the stops this Halloween,” said Brandon Voss, producer of the live show. “RuPaul’s Drag Race Night of the Living Drag will be an immersive experience with state-of-the-art lighting and costuming and horrifying tableaus. On top of it all will be the fiercest talent from all seasons of RuPaul’s Drag Race performing thrilling acts with unexpected twists.”
Voss Events is producing the tour in collaboration with World of Wonder. RuPaul’s Drag Race Night of the Living Drag launched on September 28th in Niagara Falls with 26 stops across the North and Southeast, before its final show in Newark, New Jersey on Halloween. We asked Yvie what their favorite stop on the tour would be. “Roanoke 100% just because of American Horror Story. Hopefully, we see a ghost or ghoul,” they said. “If you have seen Twilight Zone that is the big inspiration this year, like scary things from TV including the news.”
Additional tour stops include Norfolk, Atlantic City, Charleston, St. Louis, Nashville, Baton Rouge, Memphis, and Toledo. Yvie adds, “Come see this goddamn, amazing show. It is just gonna be a night full of fun and wildness. Bitches with prosthetics, flying in the air!”
