One Dollar Weekend Getaways in New York State This Winter

If you prefer not to drive and you like a deal, check out this special transportation offer in New York State.

From now through the month of March, the Long Island Rail Road and Metro-North are offering $1 tickets for additional passengers of monthly ticket holders (up to two guests) for their Winter Weekend special. Whether it’s a cozy getaway or an outdoor adventure, below are some incredible New York State winter destinations to experience for just $1 each way: 

  • Garden City, Long Island: Garden City is famous for its museums, so travelers shouldn’t miss the impressive Cradle of Aviation and the Nassau County Firefighters Museum. For those visiting with young children, the Long Island Children’s Museum offers interactive exhibits and creative spaces for little ones to explore.
  • Columbia County, Hudson Valley: Hudson Valley Distillers, situated in a historic 150-year-old barn in Germantown, offers visitors the chance to see small-batch spirit production firsthand. Tours, tastings, and cocktails are available Friday through Sunday from 12 – 6 p.m., with weekday appointments available upon request. In Beacon, Hudson Valley Brewery, located in the charming town of Beacon, invites visitors to savor its acclaimed sour beers and New England-style IPAs in a vibrant atmosphere. They also serve wine and cider.
  • Orange County, Hudson Valley: Mount Peter Ski Area takes family fun to new heights with its new 1,500-square-foot lodge at the tubing area and new snowmaking system to ensure snow-covered tubing conditions even when temperatures are above freezing. A popular family-friendly attraction, The Castle Fun Center boasts a new roller-skating rink and bowling in addition to its beloved go-karts, mini-golf, ax-throwing, laser tag and mini golf. Not far from there, the new Bella’s Brewery nestled within Chester’s renowned Océane Vineyards offers craft beers made with locally sourced ingredients.
