NOMADNESS Fest for Black and Brown Travelers, including LGBTQ+ People!
NOMADNESS Fest, formerly AUDACITY Fest, brings travelers of color to the forefront of the tourism conversation, and it’s back after a three-year hiatus due to COVID. From September 9-11, travel influencers, industry leaders, brands, and destination tourism boards will converge in downtown Newark, New Jersey.
Now, before we give you the details, you should know that NOMADNESS Trave Tribe is a travel brand and community of black and brown travel influencers, innovators, content creators, and nomads. In addition to the group’s website, there are also Facebook pages to connect with other people from around the world, including the private group page, LGBTQ+ Nomadness Travel Tribe. So, queer people of color are welcomed at NOMADNESS Fest.
So, not surprisingly, this year’s theme is “Traveling in Color: The BIPOC Experience.” It is the first travel event of its kind to focus on BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, People of Color) travelers and the vast intersectionalities among them.
This three-day festival begins on Friday, September 10 at Newark Art Museum with an invite-only Industry Day event connecting influencers, writers, and travel business owners with brands and destinations representatives for one-to-one networking.
On Saturday, September 10, the main festival day is at the Mulberry Commons, where guests can attend hands-on workshops, panels with global travel industry leaders, specialized onsite activations that speak to various travel styles, networking opportunities, and a Louisville Tourism-sponsored afterparty.
The festival wraps up on Sunday, September 11th at Military Park, with a private ticketed BBQ celebrating the Nomadness Travel Tribe community’s 11th anniversary.
Confirmed speakers include NOMADNESS Founder, Evita Robinson; Travel + Leisure Magazine’s Editor in Chief as well as these LGBTQ+ NOMADNESS travelers:
Cameron Lee is a travel Influencer that focuses on the intersection of Luxury and LGBTQIA+ Travel. He will be a featured speaker for the BIPOC Keynote panel.
Colby Holiday is a micro travel influencer on the rise in a big way. A previous member of NOMADNESS’ Social Team, Holiday and her partner have been really vocal over the last year on their roles in the LGBTQIA+ communities in their respective fields. Holiday is scheduled to appear on the panel for “How to Pitch Brands, Destinations, and Press.”
Mia Cooley is the founder of XHood, a space for Black Queer people to build and nurture healthy families and parent happy children. Cooley is one of the featured speakers for the “Parenting + Travel” panel.
Panels and sessions cover topics such as “Investing and Moving Abroad,” “How to Monetize Travel,” “Remote Working and Living,” “Content Creator’s Corner,” “A Conversation with Nomad Jrs,” “Politics + Culture,” and more.
