Gay-Friendly New Hope Named Most Charming Small Town in Pennsylvania
New Hope, Pennsylvania has started 2024 by getting some popular praise! Afar, a travel magazine, named New Hope the most charming town in Pennsylvania, because of “its history, steeped with a flair for drama.” The town is less than an hour’s drive north of Philadelphia.
Vacationers may remember New Hope was one of the towns mentioned in our list of 22 Small LGBTQ-Friendly Cities in the United States. We touted the town for its antique shops, art galleries, historic sites, wineries, and its annual Pridefest in May! We’re all about small-town LGBTQ+ Pride celebrations. Asbury Park, New Jersey, and Eureka Springs, Arkansas also made our queer-friendly list and Afar‘s ‘charming’ list.
Afar’s article, “The Most Charming Small Town in Every U.S. State,” gave praise to the town specifically calling out local accommodations and popular attractions, including the Ghost Light Inn, New Hope Railroad, Oldestone Steakhouse, Bowman’s Hill Wildflower Preserve, and Manoff Market Gardens and Cidery. It also mentions Bucks County Playhouse, “housed in an 18th-century grist mill” transformed into a theater that attracted big-name celebrities including Liza Minelli, Grace Kelly, and Robert Redford.
