Key West is Gearing Up for Womenfest!
Since its introduction 20 years ago, Key West’s Womenfest has attracted thousands of lesbians, transwomen, and allies to one of the most beloved LGBTQ+ vacation destinations in the country. Womenfest has a simple goal: to celebrate all women! Organizers are inviting women 21 and over to join them for this year’s event taking place from September 7th through September 11th.
Of course, if you’re heading down for the festivities, you will need a place to crash. And while there are many gorgeous guesthouses in Key West to choose from, we’re leaning towards Alexander’s Guesthouse. They’ve already notified their mailing list that these dates will be blocked off for female guests only. In addition, they are the proud hosts of the “Are You Wet Yet?” Pool Party taking place on September 9th from 12 to 3 pm.
Hosted by Kat D and DJ Erica, “Are You Wet Yet?’” promises to be a scintillating good time. They are also promising some drink specials, complimentary food, games and prizes for the ladies in attendance. Since this is also a charity event, a $10 donation is being collected for Equality Florida. Partying with a purpose- we love to see it.
Other key events throughout the weekend include the clothing optional “Poke Her” dance party at Poke in the Rear and the “Titties and Tutus” bash at 22 & Co. There will also be day trips to local museums, trips to Fort Zachary State Park, Haunted Key West Tours, Sunset Sailing Tours and much much more. There will be something for everybody.
