First Same-Sex Couple Ties the Knot at Luxury Resort in Santorini
Santorini Sky, the #1 resort in Santorini, perched at the island’s highest point, made history by hosting the first same-sex marriage ever to take place on the island since Greece recently legalized same-sex marriage.
Brooklyn and Carli Powers, a couple from a small town in Texas, USA returned to Greece to commemorate their love where it all began. The pair met during a study abroad trip to the Aegean islands in 2022, only to discover that they grew up just around the corner from each other back home. It was meant to be. And it was meant to be in Santorini.
Their ceremony at Santorini Sky luxury resort was not only about the jaw-dropping panoramic views, but also the resort’s unwavering commitment to inclusivity:
“Of course, we wanted the most spectacular location in Greece. But it was even more important to choose a place where we would feel safe and welcome. Since opening, Santorini Sky has been a champion for diversity and inclusion on the island—it’s the reason we chose to start our new life together there,” the couple shared, paying tribute to the most special place where they said ‘I do’, on top of the world.

The municipality has confirmed that Brooklyn and Carli Powers are the first same-sex couple ever to get legally married in Santorini, paving the way for others to follow. Santorini Sky also hosted Santorini’s inaugural Pride celebration in 2022.
