Are We Dreaming? An Airline Has Created an Adults-Only Section
You’ll have to pay extra, but you could snag a seat in the adults-only section of a Corendon flight between Amsterdam and Curaçao! Cross your fingers that other airlines will implement something similar.
Nothing can be worse than scoping out the passengers before you board your flight only to learn that the family with unruly kids is sitting right behind you. The constant seat kicking or ear-piercing cries are probably not the way you want to start your queer stress-free vacation.
So, that’s why we were thrilled to hear that the Dutch airline Corendon is introducing an “Only Adult” zone on its flights between Amsterdam and Curaçao scheduled to start on November 3, 2023. This adults-only zone on the plane is intended for passengers traveling without children and for business travelers who want to work in a quiet environment.
The airline claims the introduction of the “Only Adult” zone will also help put parents with children at ease. “We believe this can have a positive effect on parents traveling with small children, who can enjoy the flight without worrying if their children make a little more noise,” said Atilay Uslu, founder of Corendon.
The ‘Only Adult’ zone will be located in the front section of the aircraft and consists of nine XL seats with extra legroom and 93 standard seats. The zone is physically separated from the rest of the aircraft by walls and curtains, creating a shielded environment that “contributes to a quiet and relaxing flight.”
“On board our flights we always strive to respond to the different needs of our customers. We are also the first Dutch airline to introduce the ‘Only Adult’ zone because we always try to manage expectations when travelers are looking for some extra peace and quiet during their flight,” said Uslu.
We can only hope this will be a growing travel trend across all airlines. But until then, you can book a seat in the quiet zone for adult travelers via corendon.com, corendon.nl, and corendon.be.
