Bermuda Pride Wants You to ‘Love & Live’!

After a two-year hiatus, Bermuda Pride returns for its second year. In 2019, 6,000 revelers came out for the first LGBTQ+ celebration, and this year is expected to be more vibrant with this year’s theme, “Love & Live.” OUTBermuda – the event’s organizer – has extended an invitation to LGBTQ+ people, allies and the wider community to come together for an intersectional celebration of Pride.

If you’re heading to Bermuda at the end of August, here’s a quick list of scheduled events:

  • August 26th – LGBTQ+ 101 Forum on How to Love & Live
  • August 27th – Pride Parade and Block Party in Hamilton
  • August 27th – Love & Live Night Party
  • August 28th – Pride Worship Service
  • August 28th – Beach Party

All events are free except for the Love & Live Night Party and the Premium Beach Party experience, both of which are ticketed. Premium Beach Party ticket holders will get their own private space on the beach for the event, a Bermuda Pride 2022 Umbrella, two Bermuda Pride 2022 beach towels/mandalas and a complimentary Prosecco. However, if you want to just come and hang out at the beach in the public area, entrance to the party is free.

The banner event of course is the Pride Parade which will start and end in Victoria Park within the city of Hamilton. After the march the park will be host to entertainment, games, food and fun for celebrants to enjoy. In order to facilitate a safe and festive event organizers are asking for volunteers to sign up to help out over the weekend. Among other tasks, volunteers will be responsible for the eight hydration stations that’ll line the Parade route on Hamilton’s streets.

Olatunji Tucker, a member of the diverse, newly-expanded Board at OUTBermuda and Committee Chair of Bermuda Pride, is leading the team of directors, staff, and volunteers to ensure that this year’s event is inclusive and memorable, encouraging the community to come together.

“Celebrating who we are and showing our diversity is beautiful,” said Tucker. “Pride offers education for the masses, support for the LGBTQ+ community, a chance to showcase our love for each other, and an opportunity to truly be ourselves. I hope that following our 2022 Pride celebration, Bermuda will take another step forward in understanding the LGBTQ+ community and recognize that we are all in this together. Let’s support each other and continue to love and live.”
