Atlanta Black Pride Weekend prepares for its 26th year with an exciting line-up during the 2022 Labor Day holiday weekend. 2022 also marks the addition of the inaugural, Atlanta Black Pride Weekend Film Festival held at IPIC Theaters on Saturday, Sept. 3 from 1-10 PM. The five-day Pride Celebration will include special appearances by: Kandi Burruss, Jussie Smollett, Joseline Hernandez, Natalie Nunn, Stasha Sanchez, Saucy Santana, Latto, Jhonni Blaze, Erica Banks, Jerrie Johnson, Melissa “DJ M” Scott and more.

The event will kick off on Thursday, September 1, with the Atlanta Black Pride Weekend Opening Reception presented by the City of Atlanta and Mayor Andre Dickens. Additional Pride nightlife events will take place in many of Atlanta’s premiere Midtown venues throughout the weekend. Atlanta Black Pride Weekend organizers, in conjunction with the mayor’s office and the Atlanta Police Department, have taken extra precautions to ensure that all celebration participants had a safe and enjoyable weekend in the great peach state. In partnership with various healthcare providers, HIV testing and information on official vaccination locations for MonkeyPox and COVID-19 will be regularly disseminated amongst attendees.

The first-ever Black Excellence Influencer’s Dinner will be hosted by RockStars Production and Traxx Girls on Friday, September 2 at the Starling Hotel. This all-new affair serves as a Fundraiser to benefit Atlanta Black Pride Weekend and is a unique opportunity for trailblazers, leaders, and influencers to celebrate accomplishments while highlighting individuals and organizations who significantly impact and contribute to the LGBTQIA+ community.

The inaugural Atlanta Black Pride Weekend Film Festival will be held on Saturday, September 3 at IPIC Theaters in Midtown. The all-day festival will feature independent LGBTQIA+ films submitted via iElevate+ TV (all-new streaming app); screenings of the critically acclaimed films Mixed Girl and Black and Porn; an interview on the topic of representation in Hollywood with “Harlem” (Amazon Prime) star Jerrie Johnson; and an epic Film Festival finale featuring a screening of the BET+ film, B-Boy Blues with director Jussie Smollett. The film festival is free and open to the public; registration is available at PrideFilmFest.org

Sunday, September 4 begins with morning worship service at 11 AM in Atlanta’s Piedmont Park. The Vision Cathedral of Atlanta (Bishop O.C. Allen, III) presents this high-energy worship and communion experience for the entire Atlanta community.

Immediately following the outdoor worship experience, will be the 10th annual Pure Heat Community Festival. Known as a free “day of unity,” the cultural event includes market and food vendors, live celebrity and local performers, entertainment, educational forums, prizes & giveaways – all designed to bring together the spirit of community, pride, and vision.

Headlining this year’s 10th annual Pure Heat Community Festival are 2022 honorees Joseline Hernandez (“Joseline’s Cabaret”), Kandi Burruss (“Real Housewives of Atlanta”) and Jussie Smollett (“Empire”). Burruss will receive the annual Humanitarian award; Natalie Nunn (“BADDIES SOUTH”) will receive the all-new Pioneer award; Stasha Sanchez (“Legendary”) will receive the annual ICON award. Hernandez will receive the Trailblazer award; Smollett will receive the first-ever Alvin Ailey Trailblazer Award.
