The President of American Express Travel Provides 6 Holiday Travel Hacks
A recent Amex Trendex survey found that 47% of respondents plan to travel this holiday season for a family gathering. A busy holiday travel season is expected but planning ahead can help take the stress out of your upcoming travels. So, we connected with Audrey Hendley, President of American Express Travel, who provides a few holiday travel hacks to help you navigate travel during the festive season.
Navigate the Airport Like a Pro
Say goodbye to long security lines by utilizing TSA PreCheck or Clear, and instead use the time to rest and fuel up pre-flight at one of the 1,400 lounges in our Global Lounge Collection.
For Peace of Mind, Work with a Travel Advisor
Working with a travel advisor, you can take some of the stress out of planning and come up with Plan A, B, and C. If your plans change, you can modify all aspects of your trip with just one phone call.
Pack Light and Dress Right
Aim to pack a carry-on instead of checking a bag to avoid the risk of losing your luggage, and dress in layers since you never know how cold or hot the plane will be. I like to pack all of my plane essentials like headphones, hand sanitizer, snacks, etc. in a smaller bag that I can easily access throughout my flight.
Reservations are Your Best Friend
Plan ahead and book everything in advance – from restaurant reservations to car rentals, parking, and even tickets for shows or ski resorts. Having everything scheduled will help alleviate stress during your trip and give you more time to enjoy yourself and catch up with loved ones.
Don’t Forget to Treat Yourself
Indulge in small moments of self-care this holiday season – from picking up a good book to read during your flight, to enjoying a cocktail in our Centurion Lounge before you board.
Embrace Off-Season Travel
Our recent Amex Trendex Survey found that 55% of respondents are planning on traveling off-season this year to avoid the holiday travel rush. Save money and avoid crowds by visiting destinations that are considered off-season. Using credit card points and miles can also mean big savings on things like hotels, car rentals, dining, and flights.
