Airbnb released its 2023 winter travel trends to reveal the top trending domestic and international destinations for guests in the UK, and some of their findings might shock you. For example, In the UK, Brits are heading North this year because places like Fort Augustus and Pitlochry in Scotland and Bamburgh in England are attracting travelers with their historic castles and quaint cottages.
What’s even more surprising is that travelers are booking coastal getaways despite the colder winter weather, opting for beach favorites, such as Norfolk and queer-friendly Brighton.
According to Airbnb, here’s a list of domestic destinations that are trending in the UK this winter:

Airbnb’s winter trends study also discovered that Brits have set their sights on traveling to international destinations in Asia and South America, from the bustling and culture-filled capitals of Tokyo and Buenos Aires to the golden beaches of Muang Pattaya and Playa Blanca.
Some of the Airbnb searches earlier this year show that British travelers were looking for winter escapes around the globe, including:

- Buenos Aires, Argentina
- Muang Pattaya, Thailand
- Playa Blanca, Spain
- Tokyo, Japan
- Ao Nang, Thailand
- Costa Teguise, Spain
- Frankfurt, Germany
- Washington, United States
- Wroclaw, Poland
National Parks, Beach, Amazing Pools, Iconic Cities, Amazing Views, and Tropical are just a few of the top Airbnb categories that UK guests are booking this winter. And it looks like family travel is focused primarily on finding those warm-weather destinations around the world.
