There’s nothing quite like a nice, chilled glass of Moscato on a warm sunny day to make you forget all your troubles and relax. As one of the most versatile wines out there you can have Moscato as an aperitif, a dessert wine, mixed with cocktails, or just on its own. It can be still, bubbly or fortified. Hailing from the Muscat grape, Moscato is a sweet, medium to low acidity wine produced the world over since it is made from one of the oldest grapes in history.
Technically speaking, Moscato is produced solely in Italy. Much like genuine champagne is produced only in France; Moscato is the Italian word for Muscat and thus anything labeled “Moscato” should be coming from Italy. This is not always the case, however, as many big wine brands around the world use the name Moscato for ease regardless of what they refer to as the Muscat grape in their home country.
