Good Vibes Supports Trans Lives With SHE Boutique Partnership

San Francisco-based sexual wellness retailer Good Vibrations is partnering with the San Francisco Community Health Center’s ‘SHE Boutique’ program to provide vital resources and support to trans women of color.

In 2024, SHE Boutique, which operates under the leadership of Trans: Thrive, an organization which provides comprehensive healthcare, mental health support, and social services to the trans and gender non-conforming (GNC) community, received a grant from biopharmaceutical company Gilead to expand the program nationally in an initiative aimed at supporting HIV prevention, anti-stigma efforts, and health equity for Black women and girls.

This year, Good Vibes is partnering with Trans: Thrive to help raise additional funds for the expansion and to support the organization’s broader mission of creating a healthcare landscape where Black transgender individuals can access services that are not only sensitive to their unique needs but are also affirming of their identities.

During the month of March, Good Vibrations will be donating all profits from sales of a carefully curated product bundle to Trans: Thrive, as well as matching up to 30% of all collected donations from both in-store and online transactions to maximize impact.

The Good Vibrations donations will go directly towards supporting over 600 people annually who benefit from SHE Boutique, which makes up 33% of total Trans: Thrive participants.

Carol Queen PhD, Staff Sexologist at Good Vibrations, said, “Since Good Vibrations opened in 1977, we have been a mission-driven place to showcase sexual wellness and pleasure—but beyond offering a comfortable, sex positive-retail environment to shop for good quality products and get correct, comfortable information about sex, we’ve also been a part of a larger sex and gender community. We’ve been an advocate and dedicated supporter of diverse and marginalized voices since the beginning. As the current political climate puts these communities further at risk, we remain steadfast in our mission to fight back against harmful rhetoric and empower members of the LGBTQ+ community.

We believe that empowerment requires acceptance, access, self-expression, dignity, and community support. That’s why we’re so excited about this new partnership with SHE Boutique and Trans: Thrive — a great team of people who are making a tangible difference in the lives of trans women, especially trans women of color.

This partnership will allow Good Vibrations to take direct action in supporting the trans community of San Francisco, who often face systemic barriers to care. We are honored to contribute to a program that transforms lives by fostering dignity, wellness, and empowerment.”

SHE Boutique, which was recently recognized as a ‘Best Practices’ program by the CDC, is a fashion-forward initiative designed to reward trans women of color living with HIV for remaining engaged in healthcare services, including medical, dental, and mental health care. The program provides clients with access to brand-new or gently used clothing, shoes, accessories, and beauty products from brands like Banana Republic, GAP, Fabletics, and Sephora.

A representative from Trans: Thrive commented on the partnership, “At Trans: Thrive we believe that access to gender-affirming care is more than just a service—it’s a lifeline and we work every day to break down systemic barriers and provide trans and gender non-conforming individuals with the dignity and care they deserve.

Having a partner like Good Vibrations, a company that truly understands and amplifies our mission, means the world to us. We truly believe that by working together we can not only create real, lasting change for our community but we can also provide essential healthcare and support that is coupled with a sense of dignity, empowerment, and belonging.

We’re grateful to Good Vibrations for choosing to partner with us and SHE Boutique and we look forward to seeing the impact this initiative will have on the lives of those we serve.”
