‘The White Lotus’ Season 3: Thailand Hotels Revealed

For queer fans still reeling from The White Lotus season 2 and the unfortunate demise of Tanya McQuaid, played by the fabulous Jennifer Coolidge, we have some news about next season! Well, production for season 3 has already started in Thailand.

Maui and Taormina, Sicily were the filming locations for the first two seasons, but Thailand – specifically Koh Samui, Phuket, and Bangkok – is set to be the backdrop for the exciting new season of the HBO show, created by Mike White, an openly bi filmmaker, actor, and producer.

For the new season, HBO landed on Thailand to support the filming and promotion of the third installment. “We are pleased to partner with the Tourism Authority of Thailand to execute Mike’s creative vision and showcase all that the beautiful country of Thailand has to offer, as the next group of guests check in to the White Lotus,” said Janet Graham Borba, Executive Vice President of Production, HBO & Max.
So who are the cast members heading to or already in Thailand? Well, Natasha Rothwell returns to the Emmy-award-winning show along with new cast members Leslie Bibb, Dom Hetrakul, Jason Isaacs, Michelle Monaghan, Tayme Thapthimthong, and queer-favorite Parker Posey.

At Vacationer, we did some extra digging to get the tea on what the next property may be for season 3. For devoted fans, if you recall, the Four Seasons Resort Maui at Wailea and the San Domenico Palace, a Four Seasons Hotel were featured in the first two seasons. So, could another Four Seasons property be the next rising star?

Well, if it is, Thailand is home to four Four Seasons properties: Four Seasons Tented Camp Golden Triangle, Four Seasons Resort Chiang Mai, Four Seasons Resort Koh Samui, and Four Seasons Hotel Bangkok at Chao Phraya River.

According to Condé Nast Traveler, it looks like the star of season 3 will be… the Four Seasons Koh Samui, located on a private peninsula on the island’s northeast coast. But wait… there’s more! Bloomberg also reported that the series will feature the Anantara Mai Khao Phuket Villas as a second hotel filming location.

Regardless of which hotel will be the prime location for the new season, the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) is excited about show capturing the country’s stunning beauty.

“We are honored to have Amazing Thailand featured as the filming location for the highly anticipated upcoming season of The White Lotus. The kingdom’s exotic natural beauty, rich historical sites, and diverse landscapes are the perfect settings to share our fascinating culture, fantastic cuisine, top-notch wellness and luxury offerings, and most importantly our people and Thai hospitality, said Thapanee Kiatphaibool, Governor of the Tourism Authority of Thailand. “Thailand has long been considered one of the world’s favorite filming locations. ‘The White Lotus’ project will certainly strengthen the kingdom’s status as a preferred filming destination and a beacon of experience-based tourism, inspiring even more visitors to amazing Thailand.”

The White Lotus has already garnered numerous accolades, including 15 Emmy Awards and two Golden Globes, but it looks like we’ll have to wait until 2025 to watch all the drama for season 3!
